FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE June 15, 2012
INTERIM PRINCIPAL NAMED AT FENWICK HIGH
Trevor Block, Dean of Academics at Bishop Fenwick High School in Franklin, Ohio, has been appointed interim principal of Fenwick for the 2012-2013 school year by Cincinnati Archbishop Dennis M. Schnurr.
He succeeds Michael Miller, who resigned on Wednesday, June 13, after three years as principal.
“Mr. Block is a known and respected presence in the Fenwick community,” said Dr. Jim Rigg, Director of Educational Services and Superintendent of Catholic Schools for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. “He has served as Dean of Academics since 2010.
“Mr. Block has been instrumental in nurturing the academic quality of Fenwick, and in assuring that the school offers the best possible programs to its students. Prior to joining Fenwick, Mr. Block worked as a secondary social studies teacher and curriculum specialist in Houston, Texas. He possesses a Bachelor’s degree in History and Education from Wittenberg University and a Master’s in Educational Leadership from the University of Houston.”
During the interim year, Archbishop Schnurr has also appointed Fr. Jason Bedel as Dean of Mission of Fenwick. In this position, Fr. Bedel will oversee the religious dimensions of the school, including monitoring the Catholic identity of the school and assuring the quality of religious instruction.
Fr. Bedel was ordained a priest of the Archdiocese in 2008. He joined the faculty and administration of Fenwick in 2011 after serving as a teacher at Lehman High School.
“We anticipate initiating a nation-wide search for the new principal of Fenwick in the fall of 2012,” said Dr. Rigg. “It is our hope that a new principal will be secured by the following spring, and the new principal will begin his/her duties in July of 2013. Know that we are committed to finding the best, most vibrantly Catholic individual to be principal.”
Dr. Rigg thanked Mike Miller for generously sharing his talents with the Fenwick community during his three years as principal.
The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Cincinnati is the 38th largest Catholic diocese in the country, with almost 500,000 Catholics, and has the seventh largest network of Catholic schools in terms of enrollment. The 19-county territory includes 214 parishes and 113 Catholic primary and secondary schools.
